Perspective drawing practises

A big weakness of mine is perspective drawing, this is something I am extremely conscious of and am trying to improve on. Below are a series of sketches that I have practiced over the past 2 weeks with youtube tutorials and without tutorials.

Improved Axonometirc

I am a firm believer in if you fall down, you get up and try again until you're walking.

This is what I am doing with my drawings, no matter the quality I am staying resilient to develop my sketching in axonometrics and perspectives.

My design process

Below is my starting point for the design project
I began with a quick SOC and SWOT analysis

I then did a word bubble of the concept and ideas I wanted to capture
I represented this visually
I then did a few spatial sketches of my vision

And completed sketch overlays of strengths and weaknesses of the site

Shadow technique

I created an axonometric of a green wall and with that I developed my own technique of a shadow with the figurine. I think this is very effective yet such a simple technique using overlay.

SketchUp confidence

These PNGs may not look like a lot but to me this shows a huge progression in my confidence with SketchUp.

The story behind this marble pedestal is that I needed a perspective view of a stone pedestal for a rendering of a GA. I spent a good15minutes on google searching for the right image but could not find one, I then decided to make my own PNG. This is something I never would have thought I could do at the start of the semester.

I created this in SketchUp before discovering how to remove the black bold outlines of my model and then learned how to convert a SketchUp file into a PNG. This was all completed in 20minutes!

First conceptual response

When I was first given the brief to my design project; my mind was focussed on the words"urban" and "vibrancy" I needed to express my ideas in order to allow the flow of new ones in. I was able to quickly express and develop this in the sketchup model- my first conceptual ideas.

Martha Schwartz

I chose this Landscape Architect because she is extremely well-known and is highly associated with the discipline. She is a landscaper whom no one can have their career within the discipline without hearing her name. I believe she is at the fore front of Landscape Architecture's change that is moving with the  21st century.

After looking at her designs I see a lot of organic shapes and a varied aesthetic but from my personal opinion they focus more on the aesthetic than function.

However, this piece of landscape I see as universal; which in my terms means anybody in the public would feel comfortable to walk up to the landscape and interact with it. The function of the street furniture is very clear but almost disrupts the nature of the landscape because it is so contemporary. It is a pleasing contrast to the eye.

Swatches

The first is where I scanned the mediums in gray scale.
Successes: gel pen and ballpoint at 100

The second is scanned in colour.
Successes: sharpie, fine liner and water colour at 100

Purple concept- landscape

In class we were tasked with drawing 2 spatial sketches that included two aspects from a mind map (of our favourite colour and how this could be shown in landscapes)  that were chosen from a collaborative partner.  My two words were street art and LED light.
I envisioned a modern, futuristic but green urban landscape.

Quick sketches- progress :)

A series of quick conceptual sketches for other modules. I wanted to show my progress in detail and accuracy of these sketches. The message is clear which is my aim.

Exploratory wave

I find myself attracted to this style and doodling it often in my sketchbook. Could this be my signatory style?

Acrylic painting

My inspiration for this flower is from a classical painting (https://mymodernmet.com/famous-flower-paintings/ )

I wanted to explore my style further as so far it is quite versatile, my painting technique has altered since painting during GCSEs and I am happy to have progressed into a naturally abstract style.
I saw a plant drawn like this on pinterest which looked pretty and simple, I wanted to challenge myself to copy this simple style. I then decided to playa round with the colour palette but wanted a quick and easy method. This strip of water colour is effective in showcasing the potential colour palette of the drawing.

Designing my engagement ring

These are the CAD designs of my ring from the jeweler. I decided to get a bespoke engagement ring and was inspired by my promise ring.

This process was similar to designing a GA as I had to make adjustments, review them and finalize them. It also helped me to collaborate as I collaborated with the sales team who then communicated my desires to the jewelers and CAD team. Overall it was an enjoyable process.

My fiancĂ© also wanted a CAD version of his ring but his ring was not complex enough for the jewelers to make one. Having gathered more sketchup skills I decided to make a CAD version of his ring myself.
I did this buy designing it in sketchup before taking it into CAD. Quite simple but effective.

Topher Delaney

 Modernist Organic Farm

All of Delaney's work is inspiring and in my opinion revolutionary. She uses such simple forms and concepts and executes them in a way I deemed unthinkable. It was difficult to choose just one piece but I chose the Modernist Organic Farm simply because it sparked me. I did not really understand what it was when I saw it without the title, I thought it was a barrier of some sort but now I understand they are interconnected rectangular pieces to assist upward growth of planting. However, I still see it as multi-functional with my initial thought of it being a memorial of some sort. I believe it would be a pretty barrier in dog parks or simple flower beds. The form and arrangement is so geometrical but sporadic which shows purpose and initiative to Delaney as a designer. This is significantly inspiring to me.

GA Hardworks

On reflection I struggled with this part of the assignment as I could not visualise how the materials would look together across the site. D...
