A subjective sense of place- Someone's home

I visited Alney Island in Gloucester as part of a site we are briefed to design in our design module. My first impression of the site was it was purposeless, lost, disconnected as a site in itself and over grown. I saw many opportunities for the site but overall it is a piece of green land with some vandalism.

Putting another perspective into this, some people see this as a potential home. A place to go to at the end of the day. To sleep. Eat. Live in. This will be a significant consideration for my design proposal, to retain the current uses of the site and simply add to the use rather than strip away the existing uses as I believe this is not my right. To take someone's home away and implement strategies that kick them out.

The two tents are said to be a couple who reside here.
