From exploring the whole site of Alney Island, Gloucester I came across multiple health and safety hazards that were not mitigated against at all. The lack of purpose allocated to the site does not justify the risk of public safety. There are enough dog walkers and cyclers which should justify the implementation of effective boundaries to be put in place.
Gloucester City Council outlines its need to reduce crime and vandalism- but how can this be addressed if simple safety mechanisms such as a fence are not put in place against physical risks?
What do you think?
Examples below:
Exposed railway with a measly, metal gate as a separation
No mitigation what-so-ever between a public footpath and the widened channel of the river severn.
A low motorway barrier which is mainly used to prevent cars from going off the dual carriageway and nothing to prevent people climbing up onto the road.
The only boundary being brambles between a foot path and again the river severn.
