I have chosen Square Dorchester Nord- Montreal, Canada because I believe this piece represents his playful outlook onto the landscape which I hold an importance to. To remember the reason we have entered this profession. The primary colours, enhanced by the season of Spring make the landscape pop and look like a happy green pocket despite the strip of vehicular access running through the middle of the site.
Since learning about British standards I feel nervous to suggest structures that are not quotidian but Cormier shows us infrastructure can be bent at our own will and still fit these regulations. This is what his piece represents and why I have chosen it. The site seems to fit in multiple functions which could all quite easily be screened off with vegetation and treated as their own zones, instead Cormier has created a 'blended landscape' where all of these zones look connected in spite of their differing functions.
