Accordia, Cambridge Housing Design
I have chosen this project because their concept of 'Living in the Garden' is evident through this finished project.
The use of sporadic planting and hardy, evergreen vegetation looks like it is a 365 day garden that will live aesthetically through the seasons. The density of planting makes it look as if the housing scheme was implemented after this garden was made which I think is applaudable for a housing scheme since it can be difficult to achieve this effect without it appearing commercialised. Additionally, it is clear this has created a community as the back to back gardens create one singular narrow path down the estate it can be seen how residents are forced to integrate and socialise through the clever use of planting and design.
Overall, it is a successful and precedent example for future housing schemes that should be acknowledged as it represents biophilia, community and overall inclusion as a whole landscape.
